Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 earl grey black tea bag
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 passion fruit
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 5-6 ice cubes + extra to fill glass

Instructions

  • In a glass measuring cup, pour boiling water over the tea bag, steeping it for 5 minutes, and then remove the tea bag.
  • Add sugar, stir to dissolve, and then halve the passion fruit, scooping out its pulp, and add this to the tea mixture, along with lemon juice and 5-6 ice cubes. (The ice cubes will help cool down the hot tea faster.)
  • Fill a glass to the top with ice cubes, and pour in the passion fruit tea mixture. Stir and garnish with lemon slices, extra passion fruit pulp, and fresh mint leaves. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • To avoid bitterness, set a timer for the steeping process and remove the tea bags promptly when the time is up.
  • Explore a range of sweeteners such as agave syrup, coconut sugar, vegan "honey," or maple syrup to discover your perfect match. Also, feel free to adjust the sweetness to suit your taste preferences.
  • If you are not a fan of the crunchy passion fruit seeds, strain the iced tea using a fine mesh strainer to remove the seeds.
  • To make the passion fruit iced tea ahead of time, leave out the ice cubes and refrigerate it. When ready to serve, pour it over a tall glass filled with ice.
